This is from an article on “Stethoscopists and Reformers” and it talks about how stethoscopes used to be the new technology. And here’s the quote: “Later, as resistance to stethoscopes among doctors abated, some patients even demanded that stethoscopy be part of their examination.” There are certainly some parallels between point-of-care ultrasound and the stethoscope. But, actually, the stethoscope is much less powerful and versatile than ultrasound and I think we can do a lot more with POCUS and we'll talk about it.
